The Maryland Voter Lookup is the official first stop for a Crofton voter checking their own entry. Repair a Crofton Lookup
Maryland updates the lookup daily, but a change made the same day will not appear at once. Online and Motor Vehicle Administration submissions may take up to three weeks. When Crofton voter records do not match, first retry the exact short or formal first name used on the application. Test a former name if it may still be on file. Fields in Crofton Voter Records
A purchased Maryland registered-voter product can contain much more than the authenticated self-lookup displays. Its documented fields include the voter ID, name, party, gender, residence and mailing addresses, active or inactive status, state and county registration dates, precinct, and congressional, legislative, councilmanic, ward, municipal, commissioner, and county districts. These fields support election administration. They are not a license to investigate private conduct.

Protected by law. Election Law §3-505 shields addresses covered by Safe at Home or a protective order. A person's decision not to register and the identity of the registration agency used are also withheld from list-maintenance records.
Election Law §3-101 requires the statewide list to include every registered voter and retain at least five preceding years of voting history. That history means the elections in which a person took part. It never reveals a marked ballot or candidate choice.
Crofton Voter Roll Access
Election Law §3-505 allows registration records held by a local board to be inspected during office hours, subject to protected-address rules. Original documents cannot leave the office unless a court orders removal or a temporary transfer is needed for data processing. List-maintenance records must be kept for at least two years and are generally accessible under the Maryland Public Information Act, with the specific exceptions noted above.
A copy of the voter roll follows the narrower rule in Election Law §3-506. The applicant must be a Maryland registered voter and sign a written oath that the data will serve a purpose related to the electoral process. Commercial solicitation and investigations of voter conduct are forbidden. Order Maryland Voter Data
The State Board of Elections voter-data process offers a statewide product for $125 or one county or district for $75. A Crofton-focused request may select Anne Arundel County or a supported council, legislative, or precinct region. Crofton itself is not a municipality, so it has no separate municipal list. Walking, registered-voter, mail-in, early-voting, provisional, cure, and voting-history products serve different election tasks.
- Complete one voter-list application for each requested list. Give the applicant's contact and residential details, registered county, and organization data when applicable.
- Describe how the data will relate to the electoral process. Choose the region, list type, any voting-history option, and FTP, mailed flash drive, or pickup delivery.
- Sign the certification under penalty of perjury and submit full payment. SBE accepts the payment methods listed on its current form.
The form promises delivery within ten working days after receipt of the application and payment. SBE does not accept applications from the advanced-registration deadline, 21 days before an election, through election day. Most products arrive as tab-separated text; the Walking List is a PDF. The agency does not supply custom formats or guarantee compatibility with the buyer's software.
Payment options on the current application include credit card, certified check, personal or campaign check, and money order. Checks are payable to the Maryland State Board of Elections. Crofton Voter File Costs
The price gap is simple but the product choice is not. Anne Arundel County or a single supported district costs $75, while statewide voter data costs $125. A separate history file may cover up to ten selected elections; included registered-voter history may cover five. Full payment must accompany each application. A returned check brings a $30 fee.
Walking Lists sort by precinct and street and group voters at an address with party data. Registered Voter Lists carry the broad identity, status, address, and district inventory. Separate Voting History connects to a voter list by voter ID and records election date, type, participation method, precinct, and jurisdiction. Provisional and cure lists contain election-processing fields designed for those specific workflows.
Permanent and election-specific mail-in lists add application, address, and ballot-status fields. Early Voting Lists identify the early-voting location and date, ballot style, precinct, party, and documented identity fields. These distinctions help an eligible applicant select only the data needed for the certified electoral purpose instead of ordering a broader file by default.
Use is tightly limited. A signed voter-file oath bars commercial solicitation and any purpose unrelated to elections. Knowingly allowing a nonelectoral use can be a misdemeanor under Election Law Title 16, and voter data must never be used to harass or harm anyone.
Crofton Registration Status Changes
Active and inactive are administrative voter-roll states, not judgments about a resident. Maryland compares information from several official sources. SBE uses reports from other states, monthly death data from the Maryland Department of Health, Electronic Registration Information Center reports, and National Change of Address information. Local boards have five business days to cancel a registration after a death is verified.
Election Law §3-501 permits cancellation after an authenticated signed request from the voter, death or another ineligibility, a verified move to another state, or an administrative complaint decision. An inactive entry does not mean an arbitrary deletion. A Crofton resident who finds an unexpected status should contact the Anne Arundel board and correct the record through the official process.
Historic Anne Arundel Voter Records
Modern voter registration files have strict purpose limits, but Maryland's archives preserve a much older election trail. The Maryland State Archives catalogs Anne Arundel Board of Registry registration records from 1896 through 1965 and duplicate registers from 1896 through 1939. Those series predate Crofton's development as a planned community, so researchers should search at the county level and account for older place names.
The deepest election-era source is an Anne Arundel Court Poll Book from 1751. It reaches more than two centuries before modern Crofton and can place a name in the county's civic record. The contrast matters: archival registers support historical work, while today's purchased roll remains subject to the sworn electoral-purpose restriction. Current SBE registration statistics are usually published for the state and county, not the Crofton census-designated place.
